Doctor in Forestry Engineering and Professor at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Montes, Forestal y del Medio Natural (Department of Systems and Natural Resources) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
In addition to the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, he has developed his research activity as staff of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, the University of Lleida, the Forestry Technology Centre of Catalonia and the University of Castilla-La Mancha, as well as through research stays in other organizations such as the University of Toronto or the Stockholm Resilience Centre.
Her research activity focuses on landscape ecology, conservation of forest species and habitats, analysis of ecological connectivity, and forest management at different scales.
He has been principal investigator of numerous national and international research projects in these fields, with objects of study ranging from emblematic species such as the Iberian Lynx or the brown bear to networks of protected areas such as the Natura 2000 network. He has directed 8 doctoral theses and is co-author of more than 70 articles in indexed international journals, as well as many other publications such as book chapters, articles in national journals, and conference proceedings.
