César López Leiva

Associate Professor of University School at EUITF since 2000 in the Forest Botany Teaching Unit. In 1989 he began his research activity in the line of Vegetation Cartography, being linked to the project of the Forest Map of Spain at scale 1:200000 uninterruptedly until the year 2000. From 2000 to 2008, through agreements with the Ministry of the Environment, he directed the mapping of Non-Tree Forest Roofs and Geobotanical Indicators at a scale of 1:50000 in 9 Autonomous Communities (22 provinces) and in 2009 the Vegetation Map of Castilla y León at a scale of 1:400000. In the field of Geobotany, he has carried out vegetation analysis studies in several territories (Madrid, Catalonia, Canary Islands, Majorca, Valencian Community and territory crossed by the French Way to Compostela from the Pyrenees). He has also developed studies of Phytocorology, deepening the analysis of Historical Phytogeography and Phytotoponymy, particularly in the northern Iberian System. She has collaborated in international projects financed by the European Commission for the Integral Management of hydrographic basins facing extreme events in Central and South America. He is co-author of 7 books, 12 articles and 7 communications to national and international congresses, as well as more than 20 vegetation maps.

Currently, he is still linked to the lines of Characterization and Classification of scrub and herbaceous cover in the Iberian Peninsula and Archipelagos, Monitoring and Evaluation of Non-Tree Forest Ecosystems, Vegetation Cartography and Phytogeography.

Profesor Titular de Escuela Universitaria en la EUITF desde 2000 en la Unidad Docente de Botánica Forestal. Comenzó en 1989 su actividad investigadora en la línea de la Cartografía de la Vegetación, estando vinculado al proyecto del Mapa Forestal de España a escala 1:200000 ininterrumpidamente hasta el año 2000. Dirigió de 2000 a 2008, por convenios con el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente, los trabajos de la cartografía de Cubiertas Forestales No Arboladas e Indicadores Geobotánicos a escala 1:50000 en 9 Comunidades Autónomas (22 provincias) y en 2009 el Mapa de Vegetación de Castilla y León a escala 1:400000. En el campo de la Geobotánica, ha realizado estudios de análisis de la vegetación en varios territorios (Madrid, Cataluña, Islas Canarias, Mallorca, Comunidad Valenciana y territorio atravesado por el Camino francés a Compostela desde el Pirineo). Asimismo ha desarrollado estudios de Fitocorología, profundizando en el análisis de la Fitogeografía Histórica y la Fitotoponimia, en particular en el Sistema Ibérico septentrional. Ha colaborado en proyectos internacionales financiados por la Comisión Europea para la Gestión Integral de cuencas hidrográficas frente a eventos extremos en América Central y del Sur. Es coautor de 7 libros, 12 artículos y 7 comunicaciones a congresos nacionales e internacionales, así como de más de 20 mapas de vegetación.

Actualmente, sigue vinculado a las líneas de Caracterización y Clasificación de matorrales y cubiertas herbáceas en la Península Ibérica y Archipiélagos, el Seguimiento y Evaluación de Ecosistemas Forestales no Arbolados, la Cartografía de la vegetación y la Fitogeografía.
